Native American research has been greatly improved online by Judy and my relentless effort to provide quality data to the Native American researchers. Our data has differed from other efforts online by our understanding of what we've posted online, and how it relates to other data we have. Our ability to integrate the multiple databases such as we've done with the Final Rolls, makes our data more useful to the researcher. It's not just names researchers need, they also need to understand how that data plays into their ancestry.

Once you have done this first trawl of information you should document key family history information about each ancestor. For your current family members and recent ancestors you should try for a minimum of capturing First name and surname, their relationships to other family, key family history events, location and occupations, as well as any additional family history biographical information that you turn up. All together this will give a solid base for your Family History “journey”.

Barkerville Cemetery - The Barkerville Cemetery is located in a historic gold rush town in the Cariboo Region of B.C. The town was formed in 1862 when gold was discovered by William Billy Barker on Williams Creek. Between 1862 and 1870 over 100,000 people travelled the Cariboo Waggon Road converging on the goldfields and the boomtown called Barkerville. In its heyday this was the largest city west of Chicago and north of San Francisco!

British Home Children sent to Canada - 100,000 British Home Children were sent to Canada by over fifty childcare organizations from 1870-1940. These alleged orphan children were often mistreated and suffered abuse and neglect as indentured farm labourers. Few of the British Home Children were able to find their families once abandoned in Canada by the organizations that deported them. Many of their descendants continue to search for their 20 million unknown British relatives. Their mutual searches have been hampered by the unwillingess of the organizations to readily release information. This site and its links will be a valuable resource for you!
