Born in England and an accountant by profession. Worked over the years as a Finance Director with Kimberly-Clark, Xerox, Pritchard Services Group and latterly as a main board director of Inchcape Group plc (Revenue £6bn). Married to Kay and they have three children, Mark, Kerry and Richard. Now retired from his business life (1998), he is a full-time historian, genealogist and writer.
He published ‘O’Donoghue People and Places’ in 1999, founded The O’Donoghue Society in 2000 and is currently writing a book on Irish folk-tales. He is also a better than average club golfer, keen on nature and walking and a lapsed guitarist (playing in semi-professional bands in the 50s and 60s).
