Biographical details:

Thomas O’Donoghue is the 2006 Republican Congressional Candidate for the 8th Congressional District of Virginia. He was chosen to oppose Congressman Jim Moran after defeating other Republican candidate, Mark Ellmore, in the June 13, 2006 primary election. He has three children with his wife, Kathy O’Donoghue, and they have been married for 14 years.

According to official campaign literature, O’Donoghue graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1987. He received his master’s degrees in International Relations from Boston University in 1991, M.B.A. from Yale University in 1993 and J.D. from Georgetown University in 1998.

O’Donoghue is an Iraq war veteran who was also deployed to Afghanistan. Overall, he has served 20 months in the Middle East with the United States Army where he got the Combat Action Badge and the Bronze Star.
