John was born in Lynn, Mass. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1990 to 1996. Military awards include the Navy Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the United Nations Medal, and several citations. John lives in Meredith, N.H. and is employed by Verizon Communications Co. He is married to the former Heather Tibbs and they are the parents of three sons, Alex, Jack and Owen.
