Brother to the famous Peter Donahue who, along with another brother, Michael, were industrial pioneers in 1849 San Francisco.
Why it was named after him/her?:
Peter created a fleet of Bay ferries to connect his San Francisco and San Jose Railroad and also to connect the northern penninsula with the Northwestern Pacific RR at Sausalito. One of the shipe in his fleet was named after his brother, James.
