His father’s name was Florence. He went to America as a teen and then returned to Ireland where he married Margaret Roxbury. Michael and Margaret had two sons, Daniel and Edward. When they moved to Coddingville, Ohio in 1864, they change the spelling of their name to Donihue.

There is also the possibility that our man could have been born in Lanark, Glasgow, Scotland. Served on the Anchor lines from 1875 to 1876, apprenticed with Messrs. Henderson Bros.Scotland ,Glasgow. Came to South Australia 1877 Married Harriet Emma Sharp in 1881. Became First Class Engineer with Marine Board of South Australia.
