Have published a book "Virginians in East China" by Suzanne Wesbrook Frantz about this family.

Family legend has it that 3 or 4 brothers were expelled from Ireland for "ringing the church bells." This legend exists in other branches of the Grandfield family in other parts of the United States. I think this has to do with the tithe wars in Ireland and want to find out more.
