Why it was named after him/her?:
A John O'Dono(g)hue of Maurices Mills, Ennistymon, County Clare told us of 'Holy Tom'. There is a 'Well' behind a psychiatric hospital on the Gort Road out of Ennis. A plaque (undated) reads, "Pray for the repose of the soul of Thomas O'Donohue, the humble and pious man who, during his lifetime, cared for and improved this holy place". There is a procession at the well on 19th March - the feast of St Joseph, each year.
Our contact John O'Dono(g)hue is almost sure that this man is the brother of my GT.GT grandfather Michael who died on the way to England circa 1847.
